Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulating him on Russia's National Day.

In his congratulatory letter to Putin, Erdogan wished the relations between the two countries would rise to the deserved level.

After the downed Russian jet crisis, Erdogan stated that: “I would like to congratulate the Russian community for the National Day of the Russian Federation on behalf of my nation and wish that the relations between Turkey and Russia will be as it should be.”

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim also sent a similar letter to his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.

One within the other throughout the history

During his official visit to Slovakia, EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Ömer Celik stated in a press conference that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also wished the problems between the two states to be solved.

Celik: “Actually; Russia, the EU and Turkey have always been within each other throughout the history and these relations should be sustained within the framework of friendship.”
