IBDA - C riot in Metris prison

Radical Moslem prisoners clashed with gendarmes when they realised that their leader was to be transferred to another prison. 68 gendarmes were injured. The prison administration and IBDA - C reached a deal after an 8 - hour bargain


A clash took place between illegal Islamic Great Eastern Raiders - Front members and gendarme who wanted to conduct a search in the jail. 68 gendarmes were injured. The riot, which started at 08:30 by local time (06:30 GMT) finished at 16:30 after an agreement was reached between protestors and prison administration following an 8 - hour tension.
Gendarme wanted to conduct a search at 08:30 in the jail where IBDA - C militants were kept. The organization members rejected the search in the jail which also shelters their leader Salih Izzet Erdis (Salih Mirzabeyoglu as known in his fake ID) who is being judged with death sentence.
They clashed with gendarme on grounds that Mirzabeyoglu and three friends of him were to be sent to prisons in Nigde, Cankiri and Gendarme.
