The "Hezbollah operation" which began with the busting of the organisation's quarters in Kavacik, was carried out mostly on the information provided through the confessions of Abdulaziz Tunc. Tunc phoned in to police the addresses of bases used by the organisation before turning himself in. But it was not until operations were carried out that the real value of Tunc came to be understood.
Tunc kept giving information to police even after he surrendered to police by phoning in information on his whereabouts and description, and was easily picked up by officers.
Abdulaziz Tunc had joined Hezbollah in 1978, when he was a high school student in Batman. He held conferences of religious content with other members such as Edip Gumus, Isa Altsoy, Ihsan Yesilirmak, Abdurrahman Ersari, M. Emin Tekin, and Suleyman Dire.
In 1985, he was introduced to Huseyin Velioglu, the leader of the organisation. In 1988, he went to Iran for training, and upon his return was appoionted interrogation official of Hezbollah, questioning those captured by the organisation.
Tunc was an active part of hezbollah operations in capturing rival PKK members, and interrogating them.
According to records, Tunc was captured by police officials in 1996, but was released by the court after his trial, on lack of evidence.
Tunc began having psychological problems in 1998, and decided to leave the organisation. On March 12, 1999, Tunc telephoned police and gave them the adress of a house in Mardin among others. But the houe in Mardin had computer discs with information of all Hezbollah activities both in and outside of Turkey.
Three days later on March 15, he called the police again to hand himself in and was picked up in half an hour. Tunc, with his confessions has been the key to all Hezbollah operations, and has become the man to prepare the end of Hezbollah.
