Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz stated that there is no serious reason for the citizens and for the stock market to be disturbed and that the differences of opinion that stems from misunderstandings would be quenched in a few days.
Yilmaz answered the journalists' questions yesterday at the Esenboga Airport before going to Bodrum, about the leaders' summit held the other night and the recent declarations of the CHP leader Deniz Baykal. He gave the following reply to the question, "What will be the future of the government after the declarations of Deniz Baykal?":
"You mean the declaration made the other night? I do not think there is an important divergence among us. I believe there
has been a misunderstanding. And we will be solving that problem in a few days. There is no serious reason for our citizens and for the stock market to be disturbed."
To the question, "Will you be giving up on any of the three points you have agreed on with Baykal?" Mr.Yilmaz gave the following answer:
"We have not agreed on three points. We have agreed upon only two points. And on the points that we have agreed upon, there is no divergences among the government parties. However the third point which is the "election government", can be brought into force only with the approval of the government partners and the President. This was Mr.Baykal's suggestion. I had articulated to him that I had to consult on this point with my partners and the President. The reactions to that point are evident. Therefore I believe we will be coming to a common point on this subject in the following few days."
