Turkey, a global player

       "The World and Turkey, 2010 - 2020" report which projects a 20 - year strategical plan for Turkey under shifting balances was presented to the press yesterday. The document was prepared by the Foreign Ministry and the State Planning Institute.
       Foreign Minister Ismail Cem who made a speech at the meeting was quoted as saying: "Stars shine above Turkey. Turkey doesn't have the chance to become a key player in EuroAsia only with political, historical and cultural background. Turkey is a global player which literally shifts from regional to global thanks to its economy, dinamism, growth pace, labour and the organizing capabilities of investors."
       Military power is getting far from being a basic factor; economy, culture and history are the main factors in the newly emerging balance, he said. "Complete with its important experiences and comperative adventages, Turkey seems a canditdate to reaching higher points. Turkey is preparing to become an economic and political pioneer in the EuroAsia" Mr. Cem added.
       The Foreign Minister also told that many independent countries emerged following the Cold War and that this creates incredible opportunities for Turkey such as new cooperations.
