Transparency saves Orsa

"Many people lent me a helping hand because I clearly stated my problems, acknowledged my mistakes and spoke bluntly. Nike placed its first order that amounts to 16 million Marks. We will meet the $840 million European production of Nike" says Orsa Chairman Ahmet Aydin.

A textile giant Orsa is trying to overcome its financial crises not with the help of the government but with the support of close and remote friends around the firm. "Many people from the textile industry and banking circles began calling me in a bid to help out, since I clearly stated my problems and spoke bluntly" says Orsa Chairman Ahmet Aydin. He says, they take orders in high amounts, particularly from Nike and adds, "I may not have to sell Falez Hotel, if I can prolong the term of my bank loans. I took the 16 million dollar order of Nike just two days ago. We will meet its $840 million European production. The director of Nike said, 'We are ready to provide you all kinds of support. Just meet our overall European production'. But also we have the production of our own brand. So we will meet some of the total $3 billion production of Nike in 1998."
