IBDA-C member Zor writes in diary: "This is a comfortable place to do time in"
The diary of IBDA-C's second man Ali Osman Zor is full of praises for
his cell in the Kartal prison. Zor points out that the only problem he
has is loneliness, but that the prison was "to tell the truth, a quite nice
place to do time in."
Zor, who had been in charge of the training of IBDA-C (The Great Islamist
Eastern Raiders' Front) members when he was an inmate in the Metris prison,
had been transfered to Kartal after the last prison riots in Metris.
Zor has been imprisoned for six years and commenced the seventh year of his
sentence in the Kartal prison. His diary reads, "We were brought here on the
25th of January, with or hair, beards and moustaches shaved off. We were
covered in mud, it was obvious we had just emerged from a tough war."
Zor describes his cell in the prison as a "40 square meter cell with two
separate floors, with a vantilation like a backyard." He continues, "The
lower floor is used for dining and social purposes. There is hot water round
the clock, and the top floor serves as the bedroom. I get three meals, and
the cook is good. It is so much like a home, that I am afraid they might ask
me to pay rent."
The Special Section of the Kartal prison has housed many a famous inmate,
from Alattin Cakici to gang leader Nuri Ergin. It is now well known that its
cells are well furnished and vey comfortable, with facilities similar to
those of five star hotels.
