Is it only the Turks who read a newspaper in Turkish? I don't think so. Take for example the English newspapers. People from all over the world who speak English, buy and dead English newspapers in order to keep track of global events. Furtermore some papers are translated into the native tongue, thus creating an opportunity for those who do not know English.

Milliyet, the most prastigious daily in the Turkish press scene, has in accordance with its motto of trust in the press presented The Wall Street Journal which is the world's greatest paper on economy to the Turkish language. Every monday this newspaper serves as Milliyet's window openin to the world.

After this venture, approximately one and a half years ago, it entered the virtual world and was published on the Internet under the address milliyet.com.tr. Today Milliyet, following the principle "wherever there are Turks we are there" has become a newspaper that can be read at the same time all over the world. With over 50 thousand daily hits Milliyet is extending the trust it has earned in the press to the information highway.

Today Milliyet is experiencing a different pride all together. By crowning its approach with the ISO 9001 certificate, it is adding the esteem of quality to the reader"s freedom of information. After being treated with intensive study, the processes were improved one by one and under the ISO 9001 standards the quest for total quality was started. Today we are reaping the harvest of this effort.

ISO 9001, which is considered the symbol of global values, will be followed by further search for total quality. Our quest will continue until every reader has become o partner and every copy a masterpiece. What's strange is that there is no end to this search. For total quality is like an endless journey. As we leave ISO 9001 behind the new target has already materializen on the horizon: Global Milliyet.

In the begining of this article I mentioned the "world reader". Now I wish to convey the result of our project that will turn this concept into reality: Milliyet is now in English... Milliyet which is transmitted to every corner of the world via the Internet can from now on be read by foreigners in English.

In accordance to Turkey's ever increasing global importance, there is now a publication through which the world can view our country. From now on every user who taps in the address milliyet.com.tr will be able to read Milliyet in English.

Our colleagues each an expert in their specific fields will present Milliyet to the world. So in a sense, by presenting Milliyet in English, our newspaper which has introduced The Wall Street Journal to the Turkish reader, is taking the return game.

Thanks to this newspaper, executives from other countries, foreign financial institutions and very world citizen who is interested in Turkey, will get to know about this country even if they don't know our language. Our deepest gratitude to the technology that has made all this posible.

Now Milliyet is providing content for information banks where the most honorable publications can be found. This has been the natural result of globalization. Milliyet, the first newspaper to take advantage of the possibilities provided by the Internet, is now leading the way for a totally novel vision.
