Businessman Korkmaz Yigit bought Kanal 6 for $110 million. The station couldn't display the expected performance after its hand over to Mehmet Kurt by Ahmet Ozal, the
son of the late President Turgut Ozal.
As difficult days continued in Kanal 6, a search for a new boss had started. Eventually Korkmaz Yigit stroke a deal with mehmet Kurt and bought all the shares of the TV station for $110 million.
Mr. Yigit had previously acquired Kanal E from Besim Tibuk for $29 million, Tele 4 of Karacan Group for $8 million and the Genc TV of Raks Group for $45 million. But he then sold the Genc TV to Kamuran Cortuk, the owner of Bayindir Holding, over the same price he paid. Instead he bought Kanal 6 and shifted to international broadcasting.
Reportedly, Kanal E will focus on economy news as Kanal 6 will be used internationally and Tele 4 as a music channel.
